Robert Pattinson is now a huge movie star thanks to his casting as Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies. But as all of his true fans will know, he’d already appeared in a huge franchise before this, playing Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
His Twilight success has meant the stars of the Harry Potter films are now asked about him and how he was to work with on a regular basis. Tom Felton, Draco Malfoy in the films, did his best to answer the question while promoting the DVD release of The Half-Blood Prince in New York recently.
He also told E! Online that Pattinson gives him hope. He said:
“Obviously, we met a few times and had the old chat, but I don’t recall going that deep with him. He was tremendously professional on-set and a great laugh.”
“[Pattinson's Twilight success is] proof that there’s life after Harry Potter.”
Well hang on a minute there Malfoy. Pattinson had a relatively small part in one Harry Potter film, and yes, he has gone onto greater success. However, if anything he Harry Potter role was his shop window and what landed him the role.
I’m not sure the main cast will find it quite so easy to migrate to other acting roles once the Harry Potter films come to an end. The leading four kids of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Felton may in fact find they’re somewhat typecast.
