Merchandising dream "Planes" already has a sequel set for next year.

Okay, we have a lot of scheduling news from Disney, so let’s just dive right in!

  • “The Muppets…Again” is now titled “Muppets Most Wanted,” with a March 21, 2014 release date.
  • “Planes,” the animated movie Disney is releasing in August, already has a sequel set in motion: “Planes: Fire and Rescue,” set for July 18, 2014.
  • “Saving Mr. Banks,” Disney’s Oscar hope with Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks, has moved its limited opening date from December 20, 2013, to December 13, 2013.
  • “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” is now officially set for October 10, 2014. Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner are attached to star in that, with Miguel Arteta directing.
  • “Tomorrowland,” Brad Bird’s next movie with George Clooney set to star, has been shifted from December 19, 2014, to December 12, 2014.
  • “Into the Woods,” Rob Marshall’s all star musical, is scheduled for December 25, 2014.
  • “The Hundred Foot Journey,” Lasse Hallstrom’s adaptation of the food and chef oriented novel of the same name that hopefully will star Helen Mirren, gets released on August 8, 2014, or what I like to call the “Meryl Streep summer movie” slot.
  • Finally, Disney family member Marvel has booked two far, far away dates, May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017, for untitled projects. What do you think they are?
