Directors with Jobs: Jon M. Chu, Steve Pink

Jon M. Chu will be the Master of the Universe.

Who’s working? Two directors! Well, very likely working, that is, if “the talks” go well, etc., etc.,

First up–have you been wondering why the heck no one has yet made a”Masters of the Universe” movie? You know, based on the ’80s cartoon that spawned a million He-Man and Skeletor action figures? Oh, wait, they did try once–in 1987 with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. Maybe it would be better not to discuss that one, or let’s just say it’s due for a second try. Well, now maybe that second try is about to happen–Deadline reports that Jon M. Chu is in talks to direct a live-action of the He-Man story. Chu recently directed “GI Joe: Retaliation” and is now doing reshoots to try to save that for its 3D release next March.

Meanwhile, Deadline also says that Steve Pink is taking over “Bad Santa 2.” He’ll rewrite the script and direct it. Terry Zwigoff directed the 2003 original, which starred Billy Bov Thornton, Lauren Graham, and the late Bernie Mac and John Ritter. Please, please let them name this sequel “Worse Santa.” Pink last directed”Hot Tub Time Machine.”
