Darksiders is a video game that has only just been released on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. But despite this freshness, there has already been interest from Hollywood. So, are we set to soon see a Darksiders movie?
The game is an action-adventure, and sees players assume the role of War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. As War, you have to journey the scorched Earth unraveling why the apocalypse happened in the first place.
Would that make for a good movie? Joe Madureira, Vigil creative director, recently told VG247:
“We’ve gotten some interest from Hollywood, we’ve talked about doing a comic series. At least a couple of those things have to happen, I’m sure.”
“It’s really a THQ thing, but I know they are definitely talking to people and I would be surprised if some of that stuff didn’t happen.”
It’s certainly an intriguing concept, and would make for a more appealing movie than many of the video games that have already been and are in the process of being adapted for the big screen.
However, it’s still a video game, and games generally don’t work as movies. So part of me hopes they leave well alone, because it will undoubtedly disappoint.
