Dan Aykroyd: ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Shooting In 2009

Ghostbusters 3

Ghostbusters 3 finally looks like its happening. 20 years after Ghostbusters 2, the third film is on its way. Bill Murray is on board, as are all the other original members of the ghoul-fighting heroes. Even Sigourney Weaver seems keen.

There’s been a lot of speculation over what form the third film would take. Would the original Ghostbusters take the lead roles? Or would a new breed comprising Steve Carrell, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Romany Malco take over? There are still very few hard and fast details on this score.

While we may not yet be privy to what form the movie will take, we may now have an idea of when to expect it. According to Digital Spy, while speaking to The Boston Globe in an online chat, Dan Aykroyd said:

“Script commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009.”

That soon? Cool, I can’t wait. The first two films were brilliant, funny, and made a fair bit of money at the box office as well. And everyone I know wants this sequel to happen. Ghostbusters 3 could be with us as soon as late 2010. How awesome is that?
