Courtroom Drama, Part II: Cage Sues Turner

Nicolas Cage…Chihuaha snatcher?
More lawsuit news!
BBC News is reporting that Nicolas Cage has filed a “defamation, libel and slander” case in London’s High Court against Kathleen Turner, in regards to “false allegations” about Cage that appear in Turner’s forthcoming biography.
The BBC report didn’t specify what the allegations are, but the New York Daily News reported that Turner wrote that “Cage was twice arrested for DUI and possibly stealing a Chihuahua.”
“I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog,” Cage, Turner’s co-star in “Peggy Sue Got Married,” fumed in a statement.
Wow! On one hand, you could ask yourself–why would Nicolas Cage steal a Chihuaha? Then again, it’s Nicolas Cage, who can come off as somewhat eccentric, so why not? And Kathleen Turner isn’t who I’d go to for a rational, calm evaluation of any situation, so I don’t know which one to believe.
BTW, if you’re wondering why Cage sued in London instead of the US, keep this in mind–in libel lawsuits in the US, the person who brings the lawsuit has to prove that the allegations are untrue; in the UK, the defendant has to prove the allegations are true. This is why you’ll see celebs sue English tabloids faster than US ones.
