Chris Hemsworth will get to drive fast.
Deadline reports that Chris Hemsworth is in talks to star in “Rush,” the story of 1970s British F1 racing star James Hunt. Peter Morgan wrote the script, and Ron Howard, he of the diverse resume, will direct.
The film will concentrate on Hunt’s rivalry with Niki Lauda for Formula 1 racing supremacy. Hunt’s short career reached its peak in 1976, when he won the World Championship by one point over Lauda. Looks like Lauda is going to be a pretty good role that should attract a big name.
Hemsworth has been filming “The Avengers” and is due to start work soon on “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Once the financing comes together, “Rush” will presumably be filmed before the “Thor” seque, which is due to be released in the summer of 2013.
