Charlton Heston Obituary 1923 – 2008

The legendary actor Charlton Heston has died at the grand old age of 84.
Heston was a true great amongst greats, and had a reputation for being one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood throughout his illustrious 50 year career.
Known as a character actor, especially of historical figures, the early part of the second half of the 20th century was dominated by his astounding acting in films such as The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur and Planet Of The Apes.
He was an Oscar winner, and won over fans and critics alike for performances in huge films like El Cid, Earthquake, True Lies, The Omega Man and The Greatest Show On Earth.
He was later known as a vocal supporter of right wing politics, and was the president and spokesman for the National Rifle Association in America.
He spent his final years suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and died on Saturday night at his Beverly Hills home with Lydia, his wife of 64 years at his bedside.
He was a great actor who will be sorely missed.
