Changeling Trailer is Out For All to See

Lucky Angelina Jolie gets to play 1920s dress-up.
The trailer for Clint Eastwood’s movie The Changeling is making the rounds now. The film, set in 1928 Los Angeles, stars Angelina Jolie as Christine Collins, a woman whose son has disappeared. After a search, police announce they’ve found her son. However, when Collins meets the boy she realizes he’s not her son. The police’s disregard of her protests reveals corruption in the LAPD and truths that she never imagined.
The film also stars John Malkovich, Jeffrey Donovan, Colm Feore, Amy Ryan and Michael Kelly. It opens October 24th. Here’s the trailer:
When this opened at Cannes last spring, it got a few raves and a few pans, so I don’t know what to make of it so far. Obviously, for me, the clothes alone are a knockout, but that’s trivial. You know what’s one thing I would like to see in this movie? I’d like to see John Malkovich act, really play a character. It seems like for a while he’s been tending to coast on playing exaggerated variations on himself or his public persona–some sort of John Malkovich schtick. But there was a time when he was considered one of the best actors working on stage and screen. Come back to us, John. Come back to acting.
