By Kirsten Anderson Casting

Taylor Hawkins will go from rock drummer to punk god.

“CBGB,” Randall Miller’s film about the New York City club that was the center of the punk/New Wave universe in the late 1970s and early ’80s, is adding cast members faster than club visitors scored drugs back in the day. Today The Hollywood Reporter gives us a veritable dance floor full of new names and characters.

The Big Bang Theory’s” Johnny Galecki will play music manager Terry Ork and “The Borgias” actress Mickey Sumner will play Patti Smith. In a surprise bit of casting, Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for the Foo Fighters, will take on the roleof Iggy Pop. Better get used to going shirtless, Taylor.

Other additions include  Steven Schub (Chicago 8) as Dee Dee Ramone; Evan Alex Cole (She’s Outta My League) as Richard Hell; Peter Vack (I Just Want My Pants Back) as Legs McNeil; and Kerry Bische (Red State) as Mary Harron.

Previously announced cast members are Alan Rickman as club owner Hilly Kristal, and Malin Akerman, Joel David Moore, Stana Katic and Rupert Grint. The story focuses on Kristal’s founding of the club and the stars and soon to be stars who appeared there. The club closed in 2008 and Kristal died soon after.

Filming is set to begin in Savannah, GA on June 25th. Savannah, New York, what’s the difference?
