Do you think Cate Blanchett saw how much fun Charlize Theron had doing the wicked stepmother thing in “Snow White and the Huntsman” and thought, “Hey, can I get in on that?” If so, her wish is now granted, as Deadline reports that Blanchett is in talks to join the cast of Disney’s new version of Cinderella. The live action version of the classic tale will be directed by Mark Romanek.Chris Weitz wrote a script based on Aline Brosh McKenna’s pitch, which she sold in 2010 in the midst of “Alice in Wonderland” moneybags fever.
What else is the lovely and talented Ms. Blanchett up to? She will be in the cast of the George Clooney directed “Monuments Men,” along with Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, and Jean DuJardin. Oh, and you’ll soon see her in a movie you might have heard something about: “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”
