Cate Blanchett Talks ‘Indy 4′ - “I couldn’t say no to Steven Spielberg!”

Cate Blanchett Talks ‘Indy 4?

The fourth Indiana Jones film is almost upon us, with just a week to go before Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull graces our cinema screens. And the actors starring in the film are starting to do interviews to promote the film, not that there’s really any need - everyone knows about it already.

Cate Blanchett recently spoke to Digital Spy about the film, and how it came about that she was cast as the Russian spy Irina Spalko. She said:

“I’ve always wanted to do something with lots of action in it,”

“So when Steven Spielberg says, ‘Be a part of Indiana Jones’, I could hardly say no. I grew up with these films; they’re part of the cinematic landscape.”

I have to admit, if I was an actor and Steven Spielberg approached me to play a part in one of the best known action franchises around, I’d probably say yes, even if I wasn’t necessarily known for that kind of film.

Luckily I’m not an actor, so like the rest of you, I’ll be queuing up next week to see the film as a cinema-goer. In preparation, I’m also working my way through the first three films, and reacquainting myself with the characters, and mythology behind Indiana Jones.
