Casting Bits! King to “Wish I Was Here,” Minnette and Dorsey to “Alexander/Terrible/Horrible…”

Joey King is going to deal with Zach Braff in "Wish I Was Here."

Two pieces of kid-oriented casting news:

Joey King, who seems to be turning into this decade’s Dakota Fanning (the go-to competent kid everyone hires because she is reliable) has joined the cast of Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here.” King will play Grace Bloom, the 12 year old daughter of Braff’s character. Grace “takes her Jewish education very seriously and is dubious about having her father as her home teacher.” Well, Grace, he did work Kickstarter pretty well. King is currently on screens in “White House Down” and will be seen later this year in “The Conjuring.”

Alexander of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” is getting some siblings. Dylan Minnette will play Alexander’s older brother and Kerris Dorsey will play his sister. Ed Oxenbould plays the title character, with Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as his parents. The Judith Viorst picture book about a boy’s bad day and how he deals with it (message: everyone has bad days) has been tweaked so now it’s about “the mishaps of a terrible day for his family after he wishes they all would experience the same troubles he does. ” So welcome to the misery Dylan and Kerris. Minnette has appearedon “Lost” and the movie “Let Me In.” Dorsey can be seen currently on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.”
