Carnahan Plans “Death Wish” Remake

Joe Carnahan will reinvent the "Death Wish" franchise.

Fresh off his number one box office hit “The Grey,” Joe Carnahan has lined up his next project: the LA Times reports that Carnahan has been chosen to write and direct “Death Wish,” a remake of the 1974 Charles Bronson action classic. MGM and Paramount are developing the film.

In “Death Wish,” Bronson’s character becomes a one man vigilante after the brutal murders of his wife and daughter, taking out criminals on the violent 1970s streets. There were four sequels, the last one coming in 1974 when Bronson was 72. Get off my lawn, indeed.

Carnahan has worked twice with Liam Neeson, once in bomb “The A-Team,” now in the successful “The Grey.” Could Neeson possibly be in line to step into Bronson’s shoes?
