As we get more details of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” we find that it is picking up more characteristics from the Sam Raimi “Spider-Man” movies. First we heard that Mary Jane Watson would enter the series, played by Shailene Woodley. Now we have news that casting is underway for the role of Harry Osborn, played by James Franco in the original film trilogy.
According to ComingSoon (via The Hollywood Reporter, sorry THR, couldn’t find your link), these are some of the actors that are known to be up for consideration for the role:
Brady Corbet (“Melancholia,” “Martha Marcy May Marlene”)
Dane DeHaan (“Chronicle”)
Alden Ehrenreich (the upcoming “Stoker,” “Beautiful Creatures”)
Word is that originally they had been planning on casting a “large, athletic type” for the role, but now have decided to go “darker and edgier.” Which of course makes sense because that’s the direction they went in for Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Apparently contrast and variety are not priorities.
Marc Webb is directing again. Jamie Foxx has been rumored for the role of Electro.
