Call the Daily Bugle: Spider-Man is Going to Michigan?

What? I’m going where?
ComingSoon reports via the Oakland (Michigan) Press that “Spider-Man 4″ may do some filming in director Sam Raimi’s home state, Michigan.
No, Spidey’s not coming to save the Wolverines football season–it’s just that Michigan is offering tax incentives that make it financially attractive. “Spider-Man 3″ filmed scenes in Ohio for the same reason. Here’s what the OP article said:
“Producers are always looking at the bottom line, and if they can get the same looking stuff somewhere else cheaper, they’re going to shoot there,” [location scout Dave] Rumble said.
Such was the case with “Spider-Man 3.”
“It was cheaper to shoot in Ohio because the streets we were shooting on had storefronts that looked a little bit more like New York than Detroit did,” Raimi explained. “But if the incentives Michigan has now had been in place, we would have had the money to adapt a set in Detroit.”
So does this mean that Cleveland is a cheap version of New York and Detroit is a cheap version of Cleveland?
This, by the way, would not mean that movies stars are coming to your Michigan town–this would be second unit photography, or mostly background stuff. So no autographs, but hey, Detroit residents, maybe you can be an extra.
