Slap a 2 on this and get ready to see it in November 2013.

We have some new dates so you can start your movie planning for years from now! You do that, don’t you? All courtesy of Disney, who is making these movies.

First up–“The Lone Ranger,” which is officially back on, has had its release date moved from December 21, 2012 to May 31, 2013. Right now that’s the only release scheduled that day, and you can bet that other studios will be staying away from it now. Although we’re all a little skeptical of the big budget and the viability of westerns, no one wants to tangle with Johnny Depp right now.

Then we have “Phineas and Ferb,” the big screen version of the kids TV show I have never seen. That’s been bounced to July 26, 2013. This is of interest mostly because “Thor 2″ was supposed be released that day, but now that’s been moved to November 15, 2013. What prompted the move? Did Disney make “Phineas and Ferb” the priority, thinking that had a better chance of grabbing audience attention during the summer when school is out? Or does Disney think “Thor 2″ needs the extra time? Or, most intriguingly, is Disney trying to stretch the traditional superhero season into the winter months? If so, “Thor,” who has that wintry, Nordic thing going on, would seem like the ideal test candidate. We’ll see how this goes….
