A lot of shuffling around with movies that are all sequels of one number or another.
We have a minor adjustment for “The Hangover Part III.” It’s being moved from Friday, May 24th, to Thursday, May 23rd, with “traditional late night shows on Wednesday.” Warner Brothers had a huge success with a Memorial Day Weekend release for “The Hangover Part II,” a movie that made a gazillion dollars but no one liked very much. Speculation is that they may want to get a jump on “Fast & Furious 6,” which opens Friday, has huge buzz, and attracts a lot of the same audience. The animated movie “Epic” opens that weekend, too.
“Jurassic Park 4″ had been scheduled for June 13, 2014, but now Universal has postponed the long awaited dinosaur movie. They only chose a director, Colin Trevorrow, in March, and nothing else seemed to be set, so they decided that next June is too tight a squeeze for a movie of this scale. No new date has been announced.
Don’t worry, you’ll still have something to see on June 13, 2014–”21 Jump Street 2″ immediately jumped into that slot, moving a week later from their previously scheduled date of June 6th. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” now has the 6th to itself.
