Cage Match: Nic on Ghost Rider 2, Kick-Ass

Ghost Rider

Okay, now picture this with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

ComingSoon got some info from Nicolas Cage on his next few films while he was out doing pub for this week’s Bangkok Dangerous. Here he is on Ghost Rider 2, made possible by the big box office success of Ghost Rider:

“Yes, actually, had a nice meeting with the studio about 3-months ago, and we talked about going international with that character. Taking him into Europe, having him go on a motorcycle tour through Europe, and he’s connected with the church, if you can believe that. So it sort of has elements to it that are very much in the zeitgeist, with “The Da Vinci Code” and things like that.

Oh…please, no Da Vinci Code junk. Can’t he stumble upon some kind of dark conspiracy led by the royal family of the Netherlands or something like that? Though I like the motorcycle tour thing he mentions. I picture something kind of Rick Steves-ish, don’t you? Or maybe a National Lampoon’s European Vacation sort of vibe.

And here is Mr. Cage on Kick-Ass:

“As I continue working in film I want to try to keep it as organic and honest as possible, and I am that kid. I’m the kid that would dress up like a superhero, sneak out of the house at 10 o’clock at night, jump around pretending I was fighting crime. It was a good match because it’s definitely sincere. I play a guy named Damon, the father of Mindy who is “Hit Girl” and I’m “Big Daddy,” and I’m training my daughter to be a superhero.”

You know, I have a feeling that little boy Nicolas Cage playing at being a superhero was a little different than your average kid’s superhero games. I’m thinking quirky and angst-filled. That said, I bet Cage is a fun guy to hang out with. You would expect a twist of zaniness and confusion in a night on the town led by Nic.
