Can Emily Browning take a “Sucker Punch?”
As you no doubt remember, Amanda Seyfried recently had to drop out of Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch,” due to her commitment to HBO’s “Big Love.” Well, now we have a replacement–according to Entertainment Weekly, Emily Browning is set to step into the role of Baby Doll.
As you may also remember, the movie is set in an insane asylum, where Baby Doll is confined against her will. With her fellow inmates, she sinks into fantasies about escape. Other names mentioned for the cast are Vanessa Hudgens, Abby Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone.
Browning is best known for her role in “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.” She hasn’t really done much between that 2004 movie and this year’s horror film, “The Uninvited.” I remember, though, that when casting began for “Twilight,” she was many fans’ pick for Bella. I don’t know if she was ever in the running, but that would have been a career-changer. Working with a big-name like Snyder (despite the debated failure or not of “Watchmen”) could also give her considerable cred.
