Brad Pitt To Star in “World War Z”

Brad Pitt, zombie war survivor.

Wow, I didn’t know you could star in a war?!

Oh, now I see–it’s not starring in a war, it’s starring in a movie about a fictional war. Ah, Hollywood, you take in naive me every time.

In an interview with MTV at Comic-Con, Max Brooks, author of “World War Z,” said that Paramount is planning a summer 2012 release for the adaptation of his movie of his zombie apocalypse novel. The really big news, though, is that Brad Pitt will star in it (oh, damn, I gave that away in the title, didn’t I…). That’s been a rumor for a while, but Brooks got confirmation while at Comic-Con.

Hey, what’s “World War Z” about? Well, I’ll tell you…as described by ComingSoon. The book is about:

“a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies. Brooks — the son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft — wrote a detailed tale in which a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission interviews survivors from countries all over the world, 10 years after the crisis, to gather a first-person post-mortem on a war that obliterated every country on the map.”

I’m not nearly as sick of zombies as I am of vampires, but they are wearing out their welcome. Nevertheless, Brooks sounds like he had a clever take on our old, “Die, already, will you?” friends, so I suppose I have to give it a chance. I guess Pitt will play the UN researcher. It’s not likely he’d play a zombie, right? The former Sexiest Man Alive does not make movies where he wears raggedy clothes and has his nose rotting off his face.

Marc Forster is already set to direct.

“A worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies.” WOW. That sounds novel. So is this gonna be like a Resident Evil type invasion or a Zombieland type of invasion?

shinchan it’s not going to be like either Resident Evil or Zombieland. I’d really recommend actually reading the book, it’s unlike any zombie fiction out there. It reads more like an oral history then a horror novel. It’s really interesting.
