Bourne Again: Nolfi to Write Fourth Film

Jason Bourne, wondering where he’s going next.

Variety reports that George Nolfi is set to write the fourth film in the Bourne series of action-adventurers. Nolfi was one of the screenwriters on the third film, The Bourne Ultimatum. Star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are already set to continue the series.

Variety makes a point of saying that this fourth movie will be based on an original story. Of course I believe Ludlum only wrote one, maybe two? Bourne novels, and any others have been written by ghostwriters, so it’s not like it’s a huge loss of an original voice. If anything, not having Tony Gilroy, who wrote all the other Bourne films, involved, would seem to be the bigger risk.

So…what do you think is up for Jason Bourne now? Let’s try putting him into a different setting than his usual globetrotting, high-speed chasing milieu and see how he does. Like, Jason Bourne has to get a job in say, advertising. Negotiate that shark tank, Mr. Bourne.
