Bill Paxton Up For “All You Need is Kill”

Bill Paxton may get to face off with Tom Cruise.

Hey, what’s up with Bill Paxton lately? This: Variety reports that Paxton is in talks to join “All You Need is Kill,” the Tom Cruise movie with Doug Liman directing.

The film is an adaptation of the graphic novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Amazon describes it this way:

There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again… When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?

Cruise is playing the Kiriya character, who undoubtedly will get a Cruise-ean name. Paxton would play his platoon commander, who I guess could be an ally or an enemy. Emily Blunt and Charlotte Riley are also in the cast.

Paxton starred in the hit miniseries “The Hatfields and the McCoys.” He has several movies finished and ready for release: “2 Guns,” “The Colony,” and “Red Wing.” He has another TV miniseries lined up called “To Appomattox,” a Civil War set piece where it looks like Paxton is playing Stonewall Jackson. In a bit of casting zaniness, Rob Lowe is playing Ulysses S. Grant. Okay!
