Beyonce Wondering about Wonder Woman?

It’s unlikely that many men would object to Beyonce trying on Wonder Woman’s bustier.

The idea of a Wonder Woman movie makes a lot of sense, but no one has been able to get the project off the ground. Various directors, writers, and stars have been attached, but it just hasn’t happened. Why is it so hard? DC managed to get a comic series out of the character, and the 1970s TV series was successful–they can’t find anyone who can put together a decent vision for a feature film?

Maybe it would be easier if a huge star showed interest–okay, others have and it still didn’t get it going, but let’s try again with someone knew, such as singer Beyonce, who’s been building a movie career alongside her successful music business. MTV’s Splash Page reports that Beyonce recently told the LA Times’ Hero Complex blog about her consideration of the role. Ms. Knowles?

“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?

After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, ‘OK, I need to be a superhero.’ Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there’s also an action element that I would enjoy.”

Beyonce says that she’s actually discussed the idea with Warners and DC, which makes you, um, wonder, if there is something finally on the horizon. Beyonce says she was inspired by seeing Lynda Carter in costume in the ’70s series. All I can say to that is, hey, you weren’t the only one inspired.
