Ben Whishaw Eyed for “Robopocalypse”

Ben Whishaw could fight robots.

Who knew this was going to be “Robopocalypse” week? Just yesterday we heard that Anne Hathaway was in talks to play the female lead in the Steven Spielberg sci-fi epic, along with the long-rumored Chris Hemsworth, and now we hear from Variety that the film is also targeting Ben Whishaw (the film’s casting directors, not the film’s angry robots).

“Robopocalypse,” as you may have guessed from the title, isa story about a future society that relies on robots to keep things functioning and what happens when they rebel against the humans. Drew Goddard is adapting Daniel H. Wilson’s novel.

Whishaw would reportedly play an “expert hacker” named Lurker. Well, that sounds like someone you can trust.

“Robopocalypse” is being planned for an April 2014 release, but you can see Whishaw in two of this fall’s biggest movies: “Cloud Atlas” and “Skyfall.”
