Beer in Hell Served to Czuchry, Bradford and Stults

Matt Czuchry will play hard-partying Tucker Max. Ummm…is Matt of legal drinking age? He looks a wee bit young. 

No doubt hoping for excellent on-set catering, three actors have signed up to appear in the big-screen adaptation of Tucker Max’s I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. 

The Hollywood Reporter says big-screen newcomer Matt Czuchry will play Tucker Max. Jesse Bradford and Geoff Stults will play his friends. The story will center on a Vegas bachelor party, where Max gets the groom to be tangled up in a lie that puts the wedding in jeopardy, leaving Max and his buddies to try to rescue the event. Bob Gosse is directing the screenplay by Max and Nils Parker.

Tucker Max rose to fame by creating a website where he wrote about his beer, babes, and buddies adventures, stoking the imaginations of thousands of young men bored at work who were inspired to emulate his exploits (or at least pretend they had emulated them). The collection of Max’s stories, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, has been on the New York Times bestseller list for a number of weeks.

Umm…it’s hard for me to comment too much on this one other than that I’m aware of the popularity of Max and his book. Nuns are about the only people further from his target audience than yours truly. I don’t know anything about new guy Czuchry other than that he was on Gilmore Girls and Friday Night Lights, and, according to IMDb, other TV shows. Apparently this will be his first movie role. Stults is also a TV guy, with credits on dead shows like October Road and Reunion, as well as the long-running Seventh Heaven. He’s had small parts in movies. Jesse Bradford is the best known of the group, famous to me at least for being in Bring It On, a movie I’ve seen about 8,437 times. And if it’s on TV tomorrow, I’d watch it again.
