‘Beavis and Butthead’ Could Become Live Action Movie

Beavis and Butthead were two iconic characters of the 1990s. Love them or hate them, along with The Simpsons before them, and Family Guy now, they summed up a time in our lives through the art of animation, and fart gags. And now they could be set to make a comeback, on the big screen and in real-life form!

Beavis and Butthead was one of those shows which divided everyone, from parents to kids, moshers to ravers, and all in between, everyone who saw the two idiot inventions of creator Mike Judge had an opinion on their antics one way or another. So imagine what a full length live action version would do.

Judge recently spoke to MTV about the pair while promoting Animation Show: Volume 3, a cartoon extravaganza which has saved the duo from early retirement. When asked about his future plans, he said:

“I’ve even thought about doing a live-action ‘Beavis & Butt-Head’ possibly. I haven’t yet said, ‘OK, I wanna make a live-action “Beavis & Butt-Head” movie, and here’s the idea.’ But for some reason, I used to hate the idea for years, and now I think maybe there’s something there.”

“I guess Sean William Scott’s kinda got Butt-Head eyes. A long time ago, Johnny Depp had said to me that he really wanted to play Beavis. … He was doing that [’Don Juan DeMarco’] movie with Marlon Brando, and he said Marlon Brando used to imitate Butt-Head, and he would do Beavis.”

“Casting is bad enough as it is. I don’t know if I want to sit through a casting session trying to find the live-action Beavis & Butt-Head.”

Wow, Sean William Scott and Johnny Depp would make an awesome Beavis and Butthead, but I can’t see it happening somehow. But the movie could well happen if Judge finds that his comments receive some favourable reactions.

Personally, I’d love to see a couple of actors having to utter immortal phrases such as “I am cornholio!” and “Bunghole!”

Mike Judge is set to direct Jason Bateman in Extract next, and then who knows, maybe Beavis and Butthead will return over 10 years after they first left our screens.

  • This is the worst idea, I’m all for a comeback of judges crudest but finest creation to date! But live action would be a Hiroshima sized flop!!! I found this thread whilst looking for a glimmer of hope that maybe judge had seen the light in re-inventing the legendary duo.
Same style, same antics, different format.
And I find this! Stay true to the original or leave them be!
