AstroBoy CGI Movie Looks Promising

AstroBoy CGI Movie

Imagi Animation Studios, the people behind the recent “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie, are bringing to life a big screen version of the classic anime TV show “AstroBoy”. Above we have the first look at the CGI design for the film, courtesy of FirstShowing.

The project is being directed by veteran animator Colin Brady who says that they are “being faithful to Tezuka’s original story arc, [and] at the same time bringing out elements needed for those unfamiliar with the story.”

AstroBoy tells the story of a powerful robot boy created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he lost. Our hero journeys to find acceptance in the human world and ultimately discovers true friendship as he uses his incredible powers to help others and save Metro City from destruction.

AstroBoy is set for release some time in 2009.
