Astonishingly, Matthew McConaughey Gets Lead in Legal Thriller

Matthew McConaughey, looking a bit lost.
As you may already have guessed, I’m not a huge Matthew McConaughey fan. Nothing personal, I just don’t think he has any talent (I also don’t find him attractive, but that’s just my preferences). He’s never good in any movie and isn’t a big enough name to open a movie, despite the fact that execs still seem to believe this. Which, I guess, is why Variety is saying he has been cast in a movie called, “The Lincoln Lawyer.”
The movie is based on a 2005 book by Michael Connolly. Variety says that the book was acquired by Lakeshore in a “seven figure deal hit shelves,” and became a bestseller. That sounds very impressive, but if it’s just being made now, doesn’t it seem like there’s been problems. Anyway, the story “centers on low-level criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller who finds himself representing a wealthy client with ties to a previous murder case Haller handled.”
I’m not a lawyer, but doesn’t it sound like there’s something wrong there? And speaking of wrong, how about McConaughey playing a lawyer? I guess I can’t buy the idea of him going through law school and passing the bar in any state. You know, the best thing I’ve seen him do was his obnoxious agent bit in “Tropic Thunder.” I think he’d do better pursuing more roles like that, funny character bits where he’s making fun of his looks and faux-leading man appearance. But again, apparently someone out there thinks he’s a great name to attach to a film, so good luck to you all…
