‘Arrested Development’ Movie Finally Confirmed

Arrested Development Movie

Arrested Development, the television series, may have been given the chop by Fox in 2006 due to falling ratings, but the critics and viewers who saw it for the brilliant show it was stuck with it right until the end. And they are about to get their loyalty paid back with an Arrested Development movie.

A movie based on the show was first mooted back in February, with Jason Bateman stating he and rest of the crew had their fingers crossed that the project would become a reality. It now likes like finally going ahead, with Reuters reporting that Mitch Hurwitz has signed up to write and direct the feature.

Hurwitz created and executive produced the original TV show, and his willingness to climb on board was always going to be key. Helping him with directing duties is Ron Howard, whose Imagine banner was among the show’s producers. He is said to have classed the show as a pet project and even appeared as himself in the final episode.

I’m really pleased to hear the movie is finally moving ahead, as I was almost getting sick of hearing former cast members expressing their desire to see it happen. Maybe if the Arrested Development movie is a success, Fox will consider bringing the show back, seeing as they should never have canceled it in the first place.
