Thought you’d seen the last of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator films? Well, not necessarily, as despite the fourth instalment in the series, Terminator 4 or Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins to give it its full working title, being just a month away from shooting, and the full cast having been announced, Arnie has suddenly expressed an interest in playing a part.
He does have a condition though, that the film is shot in the State of California, where he is now Governor. According to Digital Spy, he said:
“I’ve never had a dialogue with anyone about it. But if they shoot the movie in California, I would [be a part of it], yes.”
I don’t know if the reason he’d do it only if it were filmed in California is down to sheer laziness, or wanting to promote his State, but I very much doubt it’ll make much difference.
The film is set to star Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Moon Bloodgood, and I can’t see them wanting to play second fiddle to a has-been who decided to give up acting in favour of being one of George Bush’ lackeys in local politics.
Seeing as Terminator 3 was so woeful, and Arnie was in it, I’d suggest that the studio wants to make a definite split from the past and set the franchise off in a new direction. Sorry Arnie, but for once, I’m hoping you won’t be back.
