Apatow Factory Goes Greek

As long as there is a vowel in ”Apatow”, Jonah Hill will never stop working.
Yes, those crazy kids who all like to work with each other a lot are at it again. According to Variety, the latest effort to squeeze into the pipeline of the Apatow family rep company is called Get Him to the Greek. Nick Stoller writes and directs for Judd Apatow and Universal Pictures. Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, both fresh off supporting turns in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, will star.
The story centers on a new on the job insurance adjuster who’s been assigned to get an out of control rock star from London to an appearance at LA’s Greek Theater. Hill will play the insurance guy and Brand the rock star (though wouldn’t you like to see the reverse? I could see Hill as the drunk, brawling rock star.)
Stoller envisions the film as “a very dirty take on Almost Famous.” He put the stars together after being enthralled by their chemistry during the table read of Sarah Marshall. “Even though they are such different actors with different styles, I thought there could be a great buddy comedy there.”
Stoller’s entire life is one great big buddy comedy. He’s co-writing and directing the Apatow production Five-Year Engagement, with Sarah Marshall cohort Jason Segal co-writing and starring. He and Segal are also working on The Muppet Movie. Stoller also is responsible for writing the Jim Carrey starrer Yes Man.
Hill is working on This Side of Truth with Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner. Brand is in the upcoming Adam Sandler flick Bedtime Stories.
No thoughts on this project really. Will it be Superbad or Drillbit Taylor? The only thing I’ll say, Mr. Stoller if you’re listening, is that if you can bring it in under 100 minutes, I will not only go to see it twice, but I’ll send you a lovely gift as well.
