Andrew Stanton is back for more fishy fun.
Andrew Stanton may have lost millions of dollars for Disney with the disastrous “John Carter” but that doesn’t mean they’ve lost faith in him. Au contraire, indeed–Deadline reports that Stanton has been chosen to make the sequel to “Finding Nemo.”
Not much is known about their plans for the sequel, but Stanton supposedly has a concept the studio loves. Stanton, of course, directed the original “Finding Nemo” as well as “Wall-E.”
So how does all this come together? Why would Stanton go back to directing animation when he seems to want to work in live-action? Well, he needs to redeem himself somehow if he wants another shot. Meanwhile, although Stanton cost Disney/Pixar hundreds of millions with “John Carter,” he earned them much, much more with his animated movies.
The original “Finding Nemo” is getting re-released in 3D in September. With $867 million worldwide in its first run, “Nemo” is Disney’s third highest earning animated movie ever.
