I wasn’t convinced by the premise of American Reunion when it was first floated. Get the old gang back together and try to recapture the magic that happened on screen more than a decade ago? Meh. However, the trailer has me convinced this is going to be worth seeing.
We get to see all the characters return, definitely older, possibly a little wiser, but still getting in trouble. And the chemistry is easy to see as the old gang get back together for a class reunion.
The main plot of the film concerns Jim getting tempted by a hot 18-year-old he used to babysit. But as we all know he’s married to Michelle, has a kid, and is the good guy. So I doubt he’ll end up doing anything too serious.
To be honest I’m not all that bothered about the actual storyline here. This is about seeing characters we’re all familiar with make a return, with a healthy dose of innuendo and uncomfortable moments thrown in for good measure.
If American Reunion delivers this then I’ll be pleased.
