Advance Tickets for “The Hobbit,” “LOTR” Marathon, On Sale This Week

By Kirsten Anderson Movie News

Is this the ticket delivery system?

It seems like just a few days ago that we were all excited about the news that Guillermo del Toro had been chosen to direct “The Hobbit.” Well, no, it actually does feel a lot longer, but now that the movie is finally only six weeks away, it’s strange to pause and realize you’ve been along for the entire journey: from del Toro’s arrival, to his departure, to Peter Jackson’s arrival, to casting news, to the MGM bankruptcy holdup, and to filming, and now finally release on the horizon. .

And now we have news that advance tickets will go onsale this week, specifically online Wednesay (November 7th) at noon (Eastern Time). Tickets will also be available for two “Lord of the Rings” movie marathons, on December 8th and December 9th. They’re going to show the extended cut of each film, so that’s going to be a long (albeit enjoyable) day…

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” opens on December 14th. The cast includes Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Evangeline Lilly, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, Aidan Turner, and Billy Connolly (Okay, not just includes, I think that’s practically the whole cast except extras).
