Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins the bad guy team in Thor 2.
Okay, first I’ll just say that I do know the title is “Thor: The Dark World.” But there ‘s something kind of fun about writing “Thor 2.” Now the real news–
Variety reports that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has joined the cast of “Thor: The Dark World” (see? I’m getting used to it.) He’ll play Algrim the Strong who after a defeat is transformed into Kurse. This is another villain to back up Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. (Here’s the problem with sci-fi and fantasy–when you’re reading the books or watching the movie, all the names make perfect sense; when you say them out of context, they just sound damn silly.)
Akinnuoye-Agbaje has appeared in many movies and TV shows but is probably best known for his role as Mr. Eko on the TV series “Lost.” He was seen last year in “The Thing” and next will be seen in “Bullet to the Head” with Sylvester Stallone.
Alan Taylor directs “Thor: The Dark World.” Chris Hemsworth returns in the title role (Thor, not the Dark World), with Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgard, Rene Russo and Kat Dennings also in the cast. The film is set for a November 8, 2013 release.
