Adam McKay Confirms ‘Anchorman 2′ Planned With Will Ferrell

The original Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy stands up as one of Will Ferrell’s best movies so far. The good news is that it looks very likely that an Anchorman 2 is soon to be on the way.
The original’s director Adam McKay, who also co-wrote the film along with Ferrell, spoke to Collider at a press conference for The Foot Fist Way, and mentioned in passing that Anchorman 2 is definitely being planned.
“I’m looking to do another movie, I might do this other movie called Channel 3 Billion which is kind of this science fiction/Brazil type comedy. Then after that, Will and I are like let’s do Anchorman 2…so you’re talking like 2 years maybe we’ll do it. But we’re going to do it, for sure.”
“We’re dying to do it. Unless we can’t get the cast together, which is always kind of a tricky thing. But, I think, with that cast we’re all friends, so yeah, we want to do it.”
So apart from a seemingly desperate desire to make a sequel, we have no other details, either on a title, plot, or timing. What’s good is that McKay wants the original cast involved again, which I think would be a necessity to give the film any chance of repeating the cult glory of the first.
