Josh Brolin, who may or may not star in Jonah Hex, which may not have a director.
Variety reports that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are no longer directing the big screen adaptation of the graphic novel Jonah Hex. The duo wrote the script, but have begged off the originally planned directing duties thanks to the ever popular “creative differences.” No word on if said differences are between the pair or with the studio.
A search for a new director is on as the plan is to keep the project progressing for a planned spring start. Josh Brolin is intended as the star, and if things fall off schedule they could lose the hotter-than-hot star of the recent films W and Milk (it seems that Brolin’s somewhat public denials that he is set for the part are just talk…I guess…).
So who’s up to direct now? Neveldine and Taylor weren’t known for much more than Crank and the upcoming and eagerly awaited Crank 2, so apparently a big name isn’t required. Will they go with another relative unknown or a more experienced director? If they’re getting Brolin, one would think this isn’t being done on the cheap. So who’s up for it? Time to do the ever popular toss out a random name and start a rumor thing! And the name is…Kathryn Bigelow!! Why the heck not, I say?
