Zelda On Wii U To Be Epic, Arrive In 2014

By Dave Parrack Rumor, Zelda

Forget what you’ve seen about Nintendo’s forthcoming Zelda title for the Wii U. According to an unnamed source, the previous efforts shown at E3 have been scrapped to make way for a new, more-ambitious effort.

Zelda is one of Nintendo’s flagship franchise, alongside Mario, Metroid, Pokemon, and the like. Most of the Zelda titles are unmissable, and the next game being lined up for the Wii U in 2014 looks likely to set a new benchmark.

The rumor suggests that the new Zelda game will be the most expensive Nintendo has ever produced. It will also be huge, with a Grand Theft Auto-style open world to explore. The scope, storyline, and level of detail are all being upped to ensure this Wii U exclusive sells the hardware to those who remain unconvinced.

The as-yet-unnamed Zelda title will heavily feature the GamePad, with players using the tablet controller to find traps, follow clues, and generally navigate around the expansive environment.

This remains a rumor for now, but Nintendo would be well-served in trying to make Zelda a system seller for the Wii U. Add a Mario game into the equation and a healthy number of sales will inevitably follow.
