Pikmin and Pikmin 2 are genius games. They were two of very few titles I ended up buying for the GameCube when I finally succumbed to getting hold of one well into that generation of home consoles. And now it’s surely time for a sequel to hit store shelves.
According to Gamatsu, Pikmin for the Wii U is set to be unveiled at E3 2012 in June. This news comes courtesy of Shigeru Miyamoto himself, who teased the announcement in an interview.
There hasn’t been a new Pikmin game since 2004 when Pikmin 2 arrived on the GameCube. Unless you count the re-releases of both Pikmin games on the Wii. Which I personally don’t. Either way we are long overdue a new Pikmin title.
Pikmin coming to Wii U, with its tablet control system, makes a lot of sense. Players will be able to control the Pikmin using a stylus, which should make for an intuitive and entertaining way of playing the game.
