Nintendo announced details of the Wii U launch a few days ago, and the new console, complete with tablet controller, is now available to pre-order at retailers. Many are claiming sales are strong, with the deluxe edition already selling out.
It’s under such circumstances that an aspiring entrepreneur has put his pre-ordered Wii U up for sale on eBay. The asking price? A cool $900, almost three times the RRP of $349.
This was first noticed by a NeoGAF forum member, and the Wii U is still available at the time of writing on a ‘Buy It Now’ basis. A ‘Bill Me Later’ option means any potential buyer can spread the cost over 18 months, but it still doesn’t look like an attractive option.
Those of us with long memories will remember the launch of the original Wii, which sold in greater numbers than Nintendo predicted. People did turn to eBay to get their hands on one, especially in the run up to Christmas, so this will likely be the first of many overpriced Wii U bundles to be listed on the site.
