‘The Legend Of Dragoon’ Comes To PSN

The Legend Of Dragoon is coming to PSN in North America on May 1, having previously been released in Japan. This is a game that many ignored but those who played it fell in love with.

Originally released in 1999 on the Playstation, The Legend Of Dragoon was an ambitious game that in some ways outshone even Final Fantasy VII, which at that time was the darling of the RPG genre. It was an epic title, coming on four discs, mainly thanks to the FMV cut-scenes.

At the time of its release it was criticized for being too generic, but I suspect there will be many people out there now jumping at the chance to play an old-skool Japanese RPG. Because they’re in short supply these days. Even the Final Fantasy series has lost sight of its roots.

President of SCE Worldwide Studios, Shu Yoshida, announced the release on the Official Playstation Blog earlier today. And the reaction has been positive. If this is priced fairly then it’s one of the few PSone games I’d buy at this stage in time. That is if it ever makes it to Europe…
