E3 2012 came and went with little real excitement to remember for any length of time. There were some new games on show but very little else. And even most of those new games had already been announced.
Having said that, the games which did pique interest deserve some plaudits. And thanks to the Game Critics Awards, those titles are now getting highlighted for having turned a decidedly dull E3 into an OK E3.
The big winner is The Last Of Us, the PS3 exclusive that Sony showcased during its press event. The Naughty Dog-developed game is like a darker, dirtier version of Uncharted. Which isn’t a bad thing at all. It won five awards, including ‘Best of Show’, ‘Best Original Game’, and ‘Best Console Game’.
The other titles to win multiple awards are Halo 4, Watch Dogs, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and Dance Central 3. The full list of winners is available on the official Game Critics Awards website.
