An anonymous developer has sought to quell fans’ fears that The Last Guardian has been canned. This comes after the game was ominously absent from the Tokyo Game Show.
The unnamed Japanese developer told Kotaku:
“I give you my word that it exists. We are working on it. There are lots of pieces to the puzzle. It’s a matter of getting them to fit together.”
He went on to assure gamers that The Last Guardian is still in development in Japan, but that it’s a “very ambitious project,” hence the delay. He ended by suggesting the game was announced too early.
The Last Guardian was first teased in 2009, and there is still no signs of it nearing release. Sony moved to assure fans in August after the trademark to the name lapsed, and now a third-party is doing the same.
In my honest opinion I cannot see The Last Guardian being released on the PS3. If they switch it to being an early PS4 title then it will add more development time and allow for even better visuals than the title can already boast.
