SSX Looks Awesome, If You’re Good

The new SSX game is almost upon us, hitting PS3 and Xbox 360 at the end of February. This is the first SSX title since SSX Blur, which flopped on the Wii in 2007. Thankfully the new game has more in common with SSX Tricky and SSX On Tour, both of which were critical and commercial successes.

Gamespot recently met with SSX producer Todd Batty, who is, unsurprisingly, pretty damn good at the game. Below is a video of him playing the new game, and there are a couple more available to watch on the original article.

Leaving aside Batty’s skills for a moment, I think the game looks great. It’s not the most stunning game I’ve seen from a visual standpoint, but then sports games have to do a lot more than just look pretty. I’d take fluid and intuitive gameplay over graphics any day.

What should you expect from SSX? real-world locations, fast and frantic gameplay, a ton of tricks, both old and new, and a soundtrack that you’ll never tire of hearing. Is that little lot enough to prompt you to shell out $60 to buy it brand new? I think I’ll be renting it first, just to make sure.
