Square Enix Launches ‘DvsD’ Website

Square Enix has unveiled a website teasing a new game titled DvsD. The site is in Japanese and the countdown timer is set to reach zero on May 24. So what’s it all about?

Two capital D’s immediately suggested Dungeons and Dragons for me, but that appears to have been wishful thinking on my part. Instead the truth appears to be very Japanese-centric and not all that interesting.

As figured out on NeoGAF, the character on the left is Dorako, the mascot for Monster X Dragon. The character on the right is Doala, mascot of the Chunichi Dragons baseball team. There’s your D vs. D then.

Also keywords originally found on the site but since deleted include ‘Internet’ and ‘Free2Play’, so I think it’s safe to assume we’re looking at a free-to-play online game starring two mascots. Oh, the Internet, how we love thee. I wonder how Square Enix is going to pull off a “shock announcement” now?
