Sony Unveils ‘Rain’ For PS3 At Gamescom

Sony has unveiled a new exclusive PS3 game tentatively titled Rain at Gamescom in Germany. It is currently being developed by Sony Japan, and will be released on the Playstation Network.

The trailer (embedded below) reveals quite a lot about Rain; suggesting a new, previously-unexplored world opening up only when water falls from the sky. The gameplay looks to be a mixture of exploration and puzzling, with the main character having to use his invisibility to stay hidden as and when needed.

Rain feels, to me at least, to have much in common with both Journey and Ico, two games which garnered critical success upon release. And even after just a brief trailer showing the bare bones of the game I know it’s a game I’d like to play.

I like the title but I suspect it will change prior to release. It may be very fitting but it does make the game sound like some kind of prequel to Heavy Rain.
