A movie based on Shadow Of the Colossus is on the way. This, for those who don’t know, was a PS2 game from Fumito Ueda. It has since been released as part of an HD collection on PS3 along with Ico.
Shadow Of The Colossus is an epic title that feels more like an experience than a mere game. It has a clever storyline and some great set-pieces that, if done correctly, will look fantastic on the big-screen.
Josh Trank, best known for the low-budget sleeper hit Chronicle, has been named as director. Which looks to be a strong choice. The biggest reason why I think so is that he’s a fan of the game who actively sought out the job. That always bodes well for videogame-to-movie adaptations.
If you haven’t yet played Shadow Of The Colossus or its indirect sequel Ico then now would be a good time to fill that hole in your gaming experience. It’s a sizable hole too, as I’d say these two games were the best ever released on the PS2.
