Red Dead Redemption is one of my favorite games so far this generation. It’s Grand Theft Auto set in the Wild West, and it works extremely well. The storyline is immersive, the characterization impressive, the gameplay addictive.
The latest Red Dead sold in huge numbers and beloved by fans and critics alike. So a sequel is guaranteed, surely. With GTA V nearing completion and all but ready to be assigned a release date, it could be that Red Dead 2 is following hot on its heels.
This is suggested by a job listing for an AI programmer at Rockstar San Diego, as discovered by PlayStationLifeStyle. It reads:
“Rockstar San Diego has an opening for a qualified AI programmer who is ready to help us create the best open world experiences, and push the limits of Artifical Intelligence in areas such as pathfinding, combat, and decision-making, with a particular eye towards making it all look believable to the player.”
Note that there’s no mention of which game the programmer would specifically be working on, leaving open the possibility that this has nothing to do with the Red Dead series. But I’d put money on it being so. I just hope it arrives sooner rather than later.
