Cheaters are, unfortunately, a part of the gaming landscape these days. Anyone who has played online will likely have come into contact with someone who is using a hack, mod, or other workaround giving them an unfair advantage over everybody else.
Developers have numerous ways of countering cheats – bug patching, banning – but Rockstar is testing a new method with the Max Payne 3 multiplayer. All of the cheats are being rounded up and consigned to their own murky little corner of the game.
Anyone who suspects someone of cheating can email Rockstar with evidence, either video footage or a simple screenshot, and the details needed to identify the perpetrator. If it all checks out they will be added to the ‘Cheaters Pool’ where miscreants will play against other miscreants.
Is someone is caught cheating twice then they lose their chance of salvation and will remain forever playing against others who have tried getting an unfair advantage. Which seems to me to be a sensible system to put in place.
I personally don’t understand why people cheat anyway. If you suck at a game then don’t play it. Surely cheating takes away all the fun.
